There is a General Election for the City of Laurel every two years on the first Tuesday in November of the odd-year (November 3, 2015). The Mayor serves a four (4) year term and the Council serves a two (2) year term.
Qualified residents of the City may obtain a Maryland Voter Registration Application at the Laurel Municipal Center, 8103 Sandy Spring Road, Laurel, MD, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday thru Friday. You may also assess voter registration information at the State Board of Elections at www.elections.state.md.us or the Prince George's County Board of Elections at www.princegeorgescountymd.gov.
ORDER TO VOTE IN CITY ELECTIONS YOU MUST BE REGISTERED IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE LAWS, RULES AND REGULATIONS OF PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY. EVERY PERSON WHO IS REGISTERED WITH THE COUNTY BOARD OF ELECTIONS AND IS A RESIDENT OF THE CITY OF LAUREL SHALL BE ENTITLED TO VOTE IN ALL CITY ELECTIONS.
Can I Vote In City Elections By Absentee Ballot?
Yes, you can vote by absentee ballot. There are strict regulations governing voting by absentee ballot.
To obtain an absentee ballot you must make an application. Absentee balloting is governed by strict regulations and Maryland State Laws. To apply for an absentee ballot call the Clerk's Office at (301) 725-5300, extension 2120.
